Standard dry powder fire extinguishers are called “ABC” extinguishers because they are suitable for Class A, Class B and Class C fires, but they are not recommended for indoor use, due to the ease of inhalation of the powder and the difficulty of removing its residue when cleaning.
One of the most important uses of powder fire extinguishers is to extinguish flammable materials caused by flammable solids such as wood, paper and cloth, flammable liquids such as gasoline, turpentine or paint, and flammable gases such as hydrogen, butane or methane.
It is not recommended to use it in fires involving cooking oil, fires involving electrical appliances, or fires in closed places such as real estate and offices.
